UNITED STATES OF UNHAPPY CAMPERS HOW SATISFIED ARE AMERICANS? Gallup's 2011 satisfaction survey, which has measured overall national contentment with various aspects of life in America for the last 10 years, has revealed new historic lows as a crestfallen nation grows more dissatisfied. The last time the survey was administered was in 2008, when the economy was looking down the barrel of the gun. How much have sentiments changed since then? THE OVERALL QUALITY OF LIFE THE GOVERNMENT CORPORATE AMERICA ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY MORALITY AND THE INFLUENCE OF RELIGION IN AMERICA According to the survey, 77 percent of Americans expressed feeling satisfied with their overall quality of life. Gallup reports that this result is an all-time low since they began collecting annual satisfaction data in 2001. Currently, only 42 percent of Americans answered affirmatively in regards to how well our government is working. This represents a titanic decline from the category's peak at 76 percent in 2002. On top of that, almost 7 out of 10 feel dissatisfied with the size of the Of all surveyed categories, feelings about Corporate America have always gathered lower-than-average rates, but this year, satisfaction with the size and influence of major corporations in the U.S. has fallen to an all-time low of only 29 percent.
