Overview: Trace Heating

RES POWERTHERM CONTRACT SERVICES LTD Overview: Trace S POWERTHERM Danger Heating The process of temperature maintenance and frost protection of pipes, vessels, tanks and equipment through specially designed systems and engineered cables is known as electrical trace heating. Trace heating can act as a safeguarding method against adverse weather by protecting against frost build up in pipes, tanks and vessels by ensuring the temperature stays at the designated level. This prevents pipes from becoming frozen and bursting caused by ice expansion. Heat tracing can also be used in processes and the storage of liquids that require temperature maintenance and control. Examples of this include, preventing ash created from burning, solidifying or when particular liquids require being preserved at specific temperatures for process requirements. HOW DOES IT WORK? Control & Monitoring Panel Transformer Power 4 Junction Воx Lighted End Seal (Optional) Insulation RTD Heating Cable Systems Temperature Measurement TRACE HEATING APPLICATIONS Frost Protection Gives protection to pipes, vessels and tanks against freezing by maintaining a certain temperature above freezing point. Trace heating systems can also be installed for safety on walkways and pathways to prevent frost build up. Temperature Maintenance Specially engineered trace cables can be applied to monitor and control temperatures. This works by trace heating systems running at a certain temperature, typically due to process requirements such as ash handling. Anti-cavitation Helps to reduce the chance of cavitation in pipes as heating a liquid reduces its thickness and viscosity. Cavitation is the process of vapour bubbles forming in a liquid due to rapid pressure variations. Powertherm specialise in providing trace heating services to several different types of industries, from food processing, pharmaceutical manufacture and energy projects, to water treatment and petrochemical plants.
