ENERGY & DISTRIBUTION INSTALLATION Power cables should be noted and moved away from the area of risk. Steps should also be taken to prevent any risk that may arise from an underground service. EXCAVATIONS It should not be allowed to work in an unsupported trench unless a competent person has deemed it safe to do so. Ensure the correct steps are followed to avoid the collapse of excavations and falling materials such as spoil heaps. DROWNING You must be able to prevent the danger of people drowning, not only in water but in other liquids such as concrete. VEHICLES Vehicles must be used for their intended purpose only whilst pedestrians and vehicles move around each other in a confined space without risks to health and safety. FIRE PREVENTION Sufficient steps must be taken in order to prevent the risk of fire damage. Emergency procedures should be put in place for in the event of an emergency. PROTECTION You must be able to provide the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment), high visibility vests, breathing apparatus and lighting to ensure the health and safety of employees on site. WELFARE FACILITIES You must be able to provide facilities such as first aid kits, an accident book, sanitary conveniences, drinking water and rest facilities.
