MEET SUFFERING IN SILENCE RIGHT HERE IN KENTUCKY i THECHILDREN Picture this. We're in rural Kentucky..where kids get home on the schoolbus.where deep-fried southern cooking is a staple when food is plentiful.where families work hard to keep up the family farm.where close-knit ties unite communities and, un fortunately, sometimes divide communities. Get to know some of the area's children who are suffering from food insecurity. Their situations are tragic, yet cyclic. !! LI FARMLAND THE JONES FAMILY 15 MINUTE BUS RIDE Dad is a construction worker..but business is slow. Mom had to quit her job becuase of health issues. The bills are piling up because health insurance is too expensive. Food is scarce & there are three little mouths to feed. Mom & Dad eat less and less with each passing week. Now, the kids are starting to go hungry, too..oftentimes only eating their reduced-price food at school. FARMLAND FARMLAND LOCAL SCHOOL FARMLAND THE COOPER FAMILY 15 MINUTEBUS RIDE Mom is a single-mother and life has had its ups and downs. She recently started work as a CNA at the local nursing home. Joey helps out with an afterschool job at the local grocery store. Her grandparents now care for her, but are having trouble pulling together the means to put a good meal on the table each night.
