Team GB At London 2012 Medal Summary

TEAM GB London 2012 This year was Great Britain's greatest haul of medals at the summer games since they first hosted the Olympics in 1908. We've seen records smashed repeatedly by the track cycling team; Sir Steve Redgrave overtaken as our most bemedalled olympiad; a British woman to be named the first ever female Olympic boxing champion, and so much more that has contributed to this being one of the greatest Olympics of all fime for our group of nations. EVENTS Team GB had a participant in every event at London 2012. However out of the thirty-six events, four of them did not have a male competitor, these events were Rhythmic Gymnastics, Synchronised Swimming, Trampolining, and Wrestling. Mo Farah became only the óth man in Olympic history to complete a 5km and 10km gold medal double in the same games. With it only being 1.34% gold, 92.5% of the medal is silver with the remainder made up of copper. Despite this lack of gold, the value of the medal is still 2396. The Silver medal is again 92.5% pure with the remainder being copper. The materials of this come to a little over £212. The materials cost of a bronze medal is a shockingly low $1.66. The majority of the materials were mined at Kennecott Utah Copper Mine near Salt Lake City in America.
