MAGICAL VEGAS WHICH ACCENT DO La Vegati Wamen FIND MOST ATTRACTIVE? O CLICK HERE FOR YOUR CHANCE TO FLY TO VEGAS Las Vegas Ladies Agree THE ENGLISH ACCENT IS THE MOST ALLURING Las Vegas ladies agree - the English accent is the most alluring. Over the last few months we've seen a lot of poll data which shows that, globally, the English accent is considered to be the most attractive. As an online slots and casino site, however, we were even more interested in finding out specifically what local ladies from our spiritual home thought. The team at Magical Vegas published a Google oconsumer survey specifically targeted at the US state of Nevada and then filtered it towards ladies of all ages who lived in Las Vegas specifically. The results speak for themselves – Las Vegas ladies are also betting on English. THE RESULTS: What is the most attradtive accent? Our consumer survey suggests that the English accent was found to be the most attractive amongst the ladies in Las Vegas, with French a distant second. English accent - 41.4% French accent - 17.3% Irish accent - 11.6% Scottish accent - 10.1% American accent - 9% Spanish accent - 7.9% Swedish accent - 2.7% Of course, this is a relatively tricky question to ask since most accents have more specific inflections depending on what area of a country you're coming from. In the case of English we're assuming the baseline of RP' or Received Pronunciation but who knows, a follow-up survey to get really specific may not be out of the question - maybe it's actually the Yorkshire accent that the ladies love. Either way, we wanted to take this fun topic a little further and try to work out why the accent was so popular and whether there were any patterns we could learn from. Breaking Down THE DATAА> Interestingly, the extremely wealthy Las Vegans unanimously voted for English (100% of respondents in this category) but the upper middle class actually enjoyed a three-way tie between English, French and Scottish. All inferred lower income brackets also saw English as the clear favourite by a landslide although there were dissenters. Higher income individuals voted and tied in their choice of English, French and Scottish accents. INCOME Moncy Talks Higher income range v.s. Age is another factor which we took into account, but here the results were far more stable, as English headed every bracket. Whether residing in urban, suburban or rural areas the overwhelming majority of ladies say English is the right inflection for the language of love. The runner ups, however, look something like this. • In urban areas French ranked the highest after English • In suburbia French ranked second once again L Rural • In rural areas Irish took second place, forcing French down into a tie with Spanish And finally, just for a little colour, ladies with children were evenly split between French and English but Las Vegas women without children were firmly in favour of English. Non-parents gave English a 37% share and placed Spanish in second place with 23%, leaving French in third position at 18%. WHY DO American Women V LOVE THE ENGLISH ACCENT? By now we know that most global polls place the English accent at the top of the pile but what about American women specifically? To try and get a better idea we approached the linguistic experts of Matinée Multilingual to get their opinion, since they have over 25 years of experience in the language and linguistics industry. "Aside from the fact that there's a known stereotype in America that a British accent is loved by many, and can make you iresistible to the opposite sex, it's also often associated with intelligence, education and history." Says Matinée. "This is likely to stem from The Royal Family, Shakespearean Actors as well from top universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. A big factor in this is the increased popularity of UK television programmes such as Downton Abbey, which has seen a rise in American viewers with a record of 10.2 milion for the first episode of the fourth series. The American series, Game of Thrones, has been a huge hit but with a large proportion of the cast being English actors, shoukd we be surprised that the English accent has topped the charts? But what is a British accent? To many it's an RP (Received Pronunciation) accent, also known as the "Queen's English'. This is generally spoken in southern England and is considered a neutral British accent by most. Actors, politicians and public speakers are trained to speak with Received Pronunciation and throughout history it has been a clear signal of your social position. IT DOESNT MATTER WHICH Clocen't YOU HAVE! JUST BE YOURSELF! All of this might bring to mind older research which said that it's not what you say but rather how you say it. While that may be so it's also true that, although accents can be a lot of fun, it doesn't really matter which you have in the end. We're sure that Las Vegas ladies would agree that in the end you should always just be the most confident version of you that you can be. O CLICK HERE FOR YOUR CHANCE TO FLY TO VEGAS
