The Paleolithic diet is also known as the Stone Age diet, Caveman diet and hunter-gatherer diet. It is a nutritional plan popularized in the mid-1970’s and is based on the likely ancient diet of wil...
d plants and animals that our ancestors habitually consumed during the Paleolithic era, a time frame of about 2.5 million years, which ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of the agriculture age. Focused on widely available modern variations of Paleolithic foods, the diet consists mainly of grass-fed pasture raised meats, fish, vegetables, roots ,fruit, and nuts. Excluded are grains, dairy products, salt, legumes, refined sugar, and processed oils. Paleolithic nutrition is centered on the concept that modern humans are genetically adapted to the diet of their Paleolithic kin and that human genetics have not substantially altered since the start of the agricultural age, and therefore that an ideal diet for human health is one that resembles this diet. Modern human populations subsisting on traditional diets similar to those of Paleolithic hunter-gatherers are largely free of diseases of affluence such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and cancer.
