WRITE FOR RIGHTS Each year hundreds of thousands of people across the world mark International Human Rights Day on December 10 by taking part in Amnesty International's Global Write-a-thon - the world's largest letter writing event. We send faxes, email and letters to demand that the rights of individuals are respected, protected and fulfilled, In doing so, we show solidarity with those suffering human rights abuses and oppressors free those unjustly abused and jailed. In Poland, a school in a town of only 1,000 inhabitants managed to produce nearly 15,000 letters In Mali, students from 10 schools generated more than 2,000 letters In Chicago, Al groups held a combined event that drew more than 100 participants and generated over 400 letters.
