Every year, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) publishes their World Press Freedom Index, which ranks every country in the world using the following six criteria: pluralism, media independence, environme...

We used data from RSF indexes over the past 12 years to create animated maps that trace how the landscape of global press freedom has transformed over time.
