One child is slain for every 10,000 of those missing child reports, of which there are 800,000 a year. That's 80 kids a year. gone forever. It isn't only strangers that are culprits. In 82% of reported cases, the culprit is a family member. The odds of a minor being kidnapped by someone they don't know is 1 in 560. The odds of being kidnapped by a family member are 1 in 180. These are some gruesome facts but its the reality. Most abductions happen within a QUARTER MILE of the victim's home.
