Signs of a Rodent Infestation (RATS)
SIGNS OF A RODENT INFESTATION Every rat infestation will show some sort of sign of the pest's presence. Avoid the stress and cost of dealing with a major rat infestation by watching for these simple signs and taking action ASAP. PEST DROPPINGS This is classic evidence that a rat infestation may be present. It can be useful to research what the droppings look like so you know what kind of pest you are dealing with. HOLES AND GNAW MARKS Rats love to gnaw on things, and finding little chew marks or holes can be a sign of an infestation. Be on the lookout for chewed-up electrical wires, and other things that they might have destroyed. EVIDENCE OF NESTING Rats like to make nests and beds out of whatever they can find. Take a look in all the nooks and crannies, like inside the back of cupboards, for red flags such as shredded paper that might be used for nesting. STRANGE SMELLS AND SOUNDS There are certain recognisable smells that rats give off, if you notice something odd it can be useful to research your concerns. You might also hear scratching on the walls, gnawing, squeaking, or scurrying. GREASE MARKS AND TRACKS Faecal droppings, urine trails, track marks, dark grease marks and little footprints through dust paths may also be seen as a sign of a possible rat infestation.
