IE CHANGE OF ADDRESS POST HECKLIST Who should you notify about your move? If you're moving house, it's really important to inform Ghe right people and or- ganizations of your move. Use our checklist to ensure no-one is forgotten. Use the following moving checklist toghether with our "Who to notify checklist?" to guide you through the six weeks prior to the moving day. WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE Confirm the date of the move. If you're renting, notify your landlord of your moving date. 6. Check your home insurance - be sure you have cover from the date you move in to your new home. Get written quotes from more than two removal firms. Get information and check their insurance. Book extra storage space if required. Book storage only for items that you will need. Notify your utility companies of the move. Begin to get rid of items you no longer need. Donate them to charity, sell them at a sale or just give out to your friends for free. If you require any new furniture or car- pets - it's time to order them and book a delivery service for when you move in. Packing non-essential things such as books and non-seasonal clothes into boxes. Contact and de-register from your doctor, dentist and optician if your move is out of the area. WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE Go to the post office and arrange for your post to be forwarded (as of April 1, 2015 the service fee for that starts from E29.99). Notify your milkman and newspaper delivery that you are moving and give them a date you want the service to stop. Arrange someone to look after your kids or pets during the move. Make a list of close friends and rela- tives who should know about the move. Send out change of address cards. Finalise and book your removal com- pany. Confirm arrival times, quotes and make sure the movers have direc- tions to your new address.
