Building a Concrete Base

Building a Concrete Base In Preparation for a Garage Site Preparation 1. Get the ground as flat as possible Add the membrane to the whole of the base to avoid 2. Ensure the ground is hard - use hardcore to firm up if too soft, or re-inforce with a steel mesh This will help to keep a consistent thickness cracking 3. If the site is prone to damp, install a damp proof membrane If you are installing the base adjacent to a wall, place damp proof between the concrete and the wall to stop damp from transfering The Shuttering Cover with plastic sheeting if rain is possible 1. Order the exact amount of (wet) premixed concrete to be delivered 2. Where possible, have the concrete poured directly into the base, if not have it poured into a wheelbarrow Don't wash concrete down the drain as it will settle & cause the drain to block! 3. Use a rake to get the concrete as level as possible Allow the concrete to set forat least a week before installing your concrete garage 4. Use the hosepipe to clean off any spillages before the concrete dries 5. Smooth the concrete with a straight edged tamp and guide across to to remove any excess concrete 6. Re-insert the shuttering once the concrete has spread and leave for a few days &M LM Concrete Garages
