AVOID PUTTING EVERYTHING IN THE DISHUWASHER The dishwasher is an easy way to clean dishes, but it's only good for plates and cups. It doesn't do well with pots and pans because they're too big. Dun'T USE SALTING COLD WATER IN A STAINLESS STEEL PUT If your pot is made from stainless steel, you might want to think twice about salting cold water in it. Salts contained in the water can damage the surf ace of the cookware, and make it less resistant to corrosion and stains. NUT TU CUDK ACIDIC FUUDS IN ALUMINUM Never place acidic foods in alu minium containers because the acids can react with the metal and cause discoloration. It is safe to cook acidic foods in an aluminum pot or pan as long as you don't let them sit for too long. NEVER WASH CUORWARE WITH STEEL WOUL In most c ases, steel wool shouldn't b e used to clean cookware. It tends to scratch the surface and can leave marks that don't come off easily. Instead, you should use soap and water or a soft sponge when cleaning your pots and pans DUn'T PUT AWAY CAST IRUN PANS WHILE WET It's import ant to not store cast iron pans while they're still wet. This can caus e rusting and damag e. The best way is to leave the pan out at room temperature until it completely dries off, then place them in a dry area. NEVER POUR CULD WATER INTUA HUT PAn The common method of adding water to a hot p an is not the right way. Many cooks do not know this, but you should never pour cold water into a hot pan; doing so co uld lead to cracking. NOT USING METAL UTENSILS Un noNSTICK PANS For many ye ars, the standard practice in cooking was to use met al utensils on nonstick pans. However, this can cause scratches that make the pan lose its non- stick properties. So try to avoid using metal utensils on non - stick pans.
