The 2014 Bottom Line

In traditional business, the bottom line' refers to the sum of revenue minus expenses, which is either a "loss" if negative, or a "profit" if positive. Today, let's redefine this paradigm by converging it with three additional illars: net impact, net happiness and net connection. Yes, it is absolutely awesome to make money and it affords us with the opportunity to do the things we desire, but I believe life as a whole is much more extensive and special than that. As a result, let's introduce the quadruple bottom: ONE|LIFE People, Passion, Planet, Profiť It's true what they say: we become what and who we surround ourselves with - what we surround ourselves with, we become. Every move we make has an effect that touches all the people around us. Whether it is in our personal lives or our businesses, we feed off each other's energy, and in business, it is very important for you to understand how you are supporting your clients and customers because they determine the suGGess of your business. By aligning individuals with your company's vision to add more value to their lives, they ultimately become your raving fans. What do you desire? What makes you happy? What are you mast passionate about? My life began to change when my passions were met with action. In life, most of us are given the opportunity to make some of our biggest dreams come true. But first, you must be willing to take that initial step and be daring enough to keep going until you find it. Trust me, it's there. Walt Disney once said, “around here, we don't look back for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious.and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." New paths towards passions, I would add and once you've found it, it will make your business and life a lot more enjoyable. Today, we are over-consuming our planets resources and at the rate we are going, if we do not wake up and become aware of the fact that we are connected to the very planet in which we inhabit, we may not be able to enjoy it for much longer. The planet sustains us, yes, but we must also do more to help sustain it. Roughly 3 billion people have no access to clean water, 800 million are hungry, and 10 million children die before they are five. Ultimately, a healthier planet means a healthier way of living, a healthier business model and a healthier us.' By reducing our eco-footprints within our businesses and our lives, the planet can shine brighter each day. The bills, the benjamins, the stacks, whatever you want to call it,it is necessary to live and it is necessary for your business to operate effectively. After all, money affords us with the freedom to do what we want, when we want with whomever we want. How are you and your company doing financially?
