How to Design an Interactive Kids’ Bedroom

How to Design an Interactive Kids' Bedroom I. Get the colours right. Integrate bright colours into the room that will engage the senses. Reds and oranges are energising for example. The whole room doesn't have to be filled with vibrant shades however, you can mix in a few neutral tones too. Contrasting colours stimulate the brain, even if you only make use of black and white. 2. Add some texture. In order to encourage a sensory experience, add texture by using different types of fabric around the room or textured wallpaper that they can touch. You could also add 3D artwork emerging from the walls such as sea creatures or animals from the jungle. This will really bring the room to life. 3. Plan the space. Planning is key for practical and aesthetic reasons. You could try dividing the room into separate zones, each of which have a different purpose, for example an arts & crafts zone or an active play zone. You should also find furniture that helps to make use of the space with storage facilities built-in. Pirate Ship Outer Space At The Circus 4. Choose a theme. At The Racetrack Under The Sea Fairytale Castle 5. Add educational materials. The materials will depend on your child's age, interests and the overall theme. Definitely add shelves or pockets around the room for their favourite books. Maps are also a great interactive material. Introduce wall hangings with pieces they can stick on with Velcro and a chalkboard for drawing. 3+1=4 MPD Sources: http://homeguides.sfgate.com/design-interactive- bedroom-37612.html HOOK & LOOP http://www.popsugar.com/moms/Ways-Make-Use-Kids- Small-Bedroom-Spaces-31115066#photo-31115066 www.mpdhookandloop.com http://www.boredpanda.com/creative-kids-room-ideas/ X-,
