A BRIEF HISTORY OF PSYCHOLOGY 300 B.C. Aristotle Greek philosopher Aristotle recognizes the connection between the soul, mind and body. 1690 John Locke Philosopher John Locke's An Essay Concerning Human Understanding introduces the idea of "Tabula Rasa," which is the idea that our minds are formed by our experiences. German physician Wilhelm Wundt, a pioneer in psychology, creates a laboratory in Leipzig for the study of the basic elements of the mind. 1879 Wilhelm Wundt 1900 Sigmund Freud Dr. Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, theorizes that dream + interpretation can provide invaluable insight into the unconscious mind and personality. 1919 Carl Jung Dr. Carl Jung develops his theory about archetypes, personality types and the collective unconscious.
