ΤHE HISTORY I'm Coupons HANDOUT Aloe Aloe, a succulent plant, has long been existing in ancient times and the earliest record of Aloe Vera was found in a Sumarian tablet that dates back as far as 2100 BC. Egyptian queens associated aloe's use with their physical beauty as discovered from a writing in an Egyptian paypyrus dated 1550 BC. Aloe, which is widely cultivated throughout the world, was introduced in China and other parts of Southern Europe in 17th century. According to legend, Alexander the Great has conquered Socotra Island in the Indian Ocean to secure aloes to treat wounds of his soldiers. Aloe has around 400 species and the one that is most used is Aloe Barbadensis Miller commonly known as “aloe vera" or “true aloe".
