Use of LSD peaked in the 1960OS, though the rave scene brought it back into popularity in the 1990s. While marijuana use peaked in the late 1970s, increased acceptance of the drug has led to a rise in the number of users in recent years. There were 10.4 million users of cocaine in 1982, an all-time high for the drug. T Cu The 1990s saw the use of methamphetamines double among teenagers. Prescription drug abuse has spiked in recent years-and today is the leading cause of overdose deaths. UNAMI The use of synthetic drugs (such as bath salts and synthetic marijuana) has also greatly increased in the 2010s.
