Healthy PATIENTS, Healthy EARTH How UW Health is taking small green steps to make a BIG impact Through extensive recycling efforts in 2012, UW Health SAVED the environment: 5,485,790 gallons of water 11,706 trees COPPER FOR KIDS Employees created this program to raise money for American Family Children's Hospital by collecting and selling used UW HEALTH ENERGY TEAM copper. More than $200,000 has been raised As a result of many Energy Team initiatives, UW Health clinics have saved enough electricity to power more than 130 homes for one year! to support a variety of areas including: 38 UW Health sites Dinners for more than are pesticide free! 5,000 family members of patients ***** In 2012 more than 275 weekly shares of locally and organically grown fruits and vegetables were delivered to UW Health employees Hundreds of nights of lodging for parents of patients through Community Supported Agriculture programs. COMMUNITY PARTNERS UW Health is proud to partner NO STYROFOAM with ENERGY STAR reinforcing our commitment to protecting the environment through continuous improvement of our energy performance and projects. ENERGY a STAR PARTNER UW Hospital Four Lakes Cafeteria provides napkins made from recycled material, as well as biodegradable and recyclable containers, making it a Styrofoam FREE zone.
