In severe cases (delirium tremens) individuals may experience hallucinations, severe tremors and even seizures. Severe cases of alcohol withdrawal syndrome often require hospitalization. Even if one's symptoms are mild, it is still best to seek medical attention to monitor his or her condition. Symptoms are usually treated with special medi- cations, followed by treatment for alcoholism. Even after receiving treatment, individuals may still experience trouble sleeping and irritability for a few months.
