STROKE FACTS AND STATISTICS According to WHO, 15 million people suffer from stroke worldwide each year 5 million die and another 5 million are permanently disabled • Stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death • More than 140,000 people die each year from stroke. In the U.S. Every year, more than 795,000 people have a stroke. About 610,000 of these are first or new strokes. One in four is recurrent strokes. Strokes can and occur at ANY age.
