While you might not find "sitting disease" in a medical dictionary, it's certainly a recognizable phrase that has been coined by the scientific community. Sitting disease refers to the ill- effects of an overly sedentary lifestyle. Whether it's at home or at work, we are all prone to sit more during the day than we actually should. According to a 2008 Vanderbilt University study, the average American spends 7.7 hours per day in sedentary behaviors, such as sitting.
