About one half of America's uninsured are small business owners, employees or their dependents. - Small business owner's premiums jumped from $5,700 in 1999 to $12,700 in 2009 - The percentage of small firms offering coverage fell from 65 to 59 percent during that time. 2.7 2 THE MEDICALLY UNDER-SERVED (AND THOSE ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICARE/MEDICAID) MEDICAID EXPANSI ON WILL INSURE 50% OF THE NATIONS POOREST UNINSURED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FUNDING 90-100% OF THE COST. Pediatric services, including oral and vision care NEW TAXES INCLUDED IN THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT: 3.8% medicare payroll tax on +"Special needs" children tax break $250k+ earners +10% excise tax on indoor tanning Health Insurer Tax facilities Tax on innovator drug companies based on sales made + $500,000 a year limit for healthcare executives Tax on medical device + $50,000 fee that doesn't account for charitable hospital per manufacturers: 2.3% "community assistance needs." + High Medical Bills tax deduction (for those spending over 10% Annual Gross Income on meds) [4] 5% tax on elected cosmetic surgery 49.9 MILLION AMERICANS WENT WITHOUT INSURANCE IN 2010.
