HISPANICS HAVE LOWER RATES OF SUFFERING FROM CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE THAN OTHER MINORITIES. LATINOS ARE THREE TIMES MORE LIKELY TO DIE FROM ASTHMA THAN ANY OTHER RACIAL OR ETHNIC GROUP. A SINGLE TREE CAN ABSORB UP TO TEN POUNDS OF AIR POLLUTANTS IN A YEAR, AND PRODUCE UP TO 260 POUNDS OF TREES CAN ALSO REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION FROM 15 TO 50 PERCENT SINCE THEY PROVIDE SHADOWS AND NATURAL COOLING.
