Leon and Norma HESS CENTER FOR SCIENCE AND MEDICINE The Hess Center for Science and Medicine brings together experts across disciplines in one state-of-the-art facility-a union of talent and technology designed to advance Mount Sinai's fight against the world's most challenging diseases. OFHEALTH Research Centers Slated to Receive Lab Space Include: • 5th floor, The Tisch Cancer Institute • 7th floor, the Cardiovascular Research Institute • 8th Floor, the Institute for Genetics and Multiscale Biology and the Child Health and Development Institute • 9th & 10th Floors, The Friedman Brain Institute Clinical Facts and Figures: The Hess Center is expected to receive 400 new patient visits each day. • The Ruttenberg Treatment Center expands from 18,000 square feet to 80,000 square feet. Exams rooms increase from 22 to 48. • Infusion suites increase from 28 to 54. • More than 200 physicians, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, medical assistants, registration and financial personnel, and other administrative staff support the operations of the outpatient facilities. • New Diabetes Center enables clinicians to expand from 600 consults per year to more than 900 consults per year. Broader Impact Facts and Figures: The Hess Center will 24 generate more than 650 new jobs over the next four years with an annual payroll of more than $50 million for the research floors alone.
