Between 1984 and 2004, a major cancer study was conducted in the U.S. The study looked at 3,897 patients who were exposed to asbestos at work in order to identify the link between asbestos and several specific cancers, including colorectal cancer. The study found that colorectal cancer rates were significantly higher among the workers who were exposed to amphibole asbestos and had a history of smoking. Also, insulation workers were the most affected workers by asbestos related diseases.
