I warked with an exiled Nepalian family |Young Democrats Association VOLUNTEER Loyola University-Chicago | B.S. 2011 Ethiopian Refugee Foundation Marcella Neihof School of Nursing Volunteering for the Foundation was a humbling Health Systems Monagement who had lived the past seventeen years in a refugee camp before being granted asylum in Chicago.l grew particularly fond of Monirahj, the eldest son. He was seventeen with the weight of an unfamiliar world upon him. Expected to INTERNSHIP find immediate work to contribute to the family's dire monetary situation, he left everything that he knew for Chicago, and a chance at a better life. He confided in me his feelings & fears. One Cystic Fibrosis Foundation conversation remains with me. Eluding that he would do anything to go back to his tent & refugee camp, he knew he was the head of his family, he knew he was the bridge between a terrible past and an uncertain future. I offered him everything I could, my friendship and reassurance. Charged with administration of budget, programming and facility management. Accredited with improving office productivity and morale. WORK As a result, I was selected by committee to organize & lead pilot project for providing in-home medical treatment to Cystic Fibrosis patients. Participated in the Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk, where l personally enralled Michael Jordan's Steakhouse Server | 08/11 - Present Helped open high-end contemporary steakhouse concept in prestigous downtown hotel. Provide impeccable service to intemational clientele. over twenty individuals; raising over one thousand dollars - McCormick & Schmick's Server & Trainer | 08/07 - 01/11 Charged with training all new floor staff for upscale riverfront concept. Gained extensive knowledge of service techniques, food & wine.
