ALCOHOL ABUSE ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES Four out of every five students drink while enrolled at university. SHOTS Out of the students who drink, half will binge drink multiple times before they graduate. Alcohol accounts for 1,825 accidental student deaths every year on campuses across America. Universities report 690,000 alcohol-related student assaults annually. Drunken students are responsible for 97,000 sexual assaults every year. 1.5% of college students have attempted suicide as a result of struggles with alcohol abuse. 25% of students report serious academic consequences of alcohol abuse, including poor grades, suspension and rustication. College students who drink heavily and often are up to eight times more likely to be raped.
