8 COMMON PHLEBOTOMY ABBREVIATIONS ABG Arterial blood gas test, used to measure blood pH as well as oxygen and carbon dioxide levels АВО Method of determining blood type. Common blood types include А, В, О and АВ ВВР Blood-borne pathogens are disease- causing viruses and bacteria that are found in the bloodstream CBC Complete blood count, which measures the levels of platelets, red and white blood cells and hemoglobin concentra- tions in the blood Hgb Hemoglobin–a protein found in red blood cells that transports oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body QNS "Quantity Not Sufficient"–a test result that occurs when not enough blood was collected to yield a proper analysis TRIG Triglycerides-a type of fat found in the blood.
