RECYCLING FACTS Every year the UK produces 100 million tonnes of waste! One tonne is equal to the weight of a small car. The more waste we produce, the greater the impact on the environment. This infographic provides facts on recycling, which we hope will inspire you to go green and recycle more! PAPER & CARBOARD The average household throws away 6 trees worth of paper every year. The good,news; paper is the most recycled matarial in the UK. Approsimately thirds of paper/cardboard is recyčled. ne ws: paper is two PLASTIC On average a plastic bag is only used once! A plastic bag takes approximately 100 years to decompose! 25 lwo litre plastic bottles could be recycled into an adul's fleece! ALUMINIUM CANS We drink our way Ihrough 5 billion cans every year. Each can could be recycled into another brand new one! Aluminium is worth more than other waste materials. In fact, the empty cans lying around the UK would be worth £30 million if they were recycled. MISCELLANEOUS The average baby goes through 3796 nappies before being potty trained. These nappies will all end up in landfill sites! 3796 nappies Estimates suggest that 80% of the UK's rubbish could be recycled or composted.
