Hair Facts
Rapunzel isn't the typical damsel in distress. she's fierce and bold and fills her days with art and books.
Meet Rapunzel
Disney's "Tangled", in theaters Nov. 24, is the latest and perhaps final Disney Princess. The story of Rapunzel -- voiced by Mandy Moore -- is based on the Grimm Brother's famous tale, but takes on a new twist as Rapunzel uses her 70 feet of magical golden hair to rescue Flynn, the kingdom's most wanted bandit.
Special software had to be created to simulate movement of the hair; no one had ever animated so much hair before.
Ten Disney employees grew their hair out during the making of the film. Each cut about 10 inches off to donate to an organization that makes wigs out of real hair for people who have lost their own due to illness.
Rapunzel is locked in the tower so that Mother Gothel, who stole her as an infant, can use her magical hair as a personal fountain for youth.
