Jay Leno is one of the best known American TV personalities on late night TV. “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno on NBC had a good run from 1992-2009. He is the man who wears many hats. Before he be...
came a regular on late night TV, he was a stand-up comic. He first appeared in “The Tonight Show” in a 1970 comic routine. In 1987, he got his biggest break when he was chosen as the regular stand in for Johnny Carson while the host was on vacation or sick. In 1992, he assumed the position held by Johnny Carson when he retired from television. In addition, Jay leno is an actor, a writer, a voice actor and a producer.
If you are big fan of Jay Leno, you must have known by now that the comedian and TV host is a serious car connoisseur. When I say serious, he is one of the guys in the industry whose passion for cars is beyond compare. In fact the guy has approximately 286 cars in his humungous garage that houses not just his classic collection of cars but hard to find motorcycles as well.
Some notable car enthusiasts in the industry are Jerry Seinfeld, who collects Porsches; Bruce Myer, who collects American hotrods; and Peter Mullin, who goes for French Art deco automobiles. Jay Leno is a different breed among celebrity car enthusiasts. He collects cars that were considered engineering breakthroughs and puts a premium on the historical side of the car he wants to park in his garage. He also collects different models, cars from different eras and different prices.
In addition, he is different from other serious car collectors because he buys the car not just as mere investment, a piece of something that he can watch in his idle time, but he buys the car for the joy of driving it around. Because of his long experience as a ca r collector, he has developed the eye to spot a collectible car before others recognize its true value. Jay Leno is a formidable opponent and that makes his cars even more expensive when put on the market.
To say the least, Jay Leno knows every car in his garage like the palm of his hand. His passion for cars is no doubt a rarity among his peers and no one comes close to him when it comes to cars. His collection of cars might not all be expensive but some are way beyond the reach of ordinary Americans.
