After Superstorm Sandy, our employees worked around-the-clock for months on end to strengthen the communications network in the oldest part of the City - the portion below Canal Street -and build a resilient, futureproof web of smart technology. Today, of more than 4,000 buildings in this area, more than 3,200 have this advanced fiber network serving residence and business tenants alike. The network spans more than 350 miles. And that's just in Downtown New York, an area that's a 17,000 little more than two square miles. The project of rewiring Lower Manhattan should have spanned several years. But Verizon, running to this crisis, accomplished the feat in a few short months. miles of fiber bringing FiOs TV and Internet Verizon is part of the fabric of the City, and is a vital element in all we do - commerce, financial services, health care, and families on the go. It has installed more than 17,000 miles of fiber throughout the five boroughs, bringing advanced FIOS TV and services throughout New York City Internet services to hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
