When to Use i.e. and e.g.

On Thursdays, I always wear my most expensive pair of pants, i.e., the ones made from rubies and panda bears. In this example we use i.e. because it IS a finite list; the character only has one most expensive pair of pants. In conclusion e.g. = examples (think "egg xamples") i.e. = clarification (think "in essence")
