Earlham offers a student-centered approach to the liberal arts – known as EPIC – that takes each student on a journey of meaning and significance. EPIC is a series of transformative educational experiences, including study abroad, summer research experiences, team-based projects, internships and extracurricular activities that form a cohesive and coherent whole. Excellent Teaching and Advising Earlham is nationally recognized for the excellence of its teaching and the quality of its classroom experience. Our professors are also excellent outside the classroom, where they provide personalized advising and mentoring to every student, helping each one to plan their personal EPIC journey. Through coaching, networking and real-world experiences, we aim to help students and alumni identify, pursue and develop meaningful careers both in college and beyond. Learn to Lead The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation supports Earlham's mission to "educate morally sensitive leaders for future generations." It builds upon Earlham's deep and langstanding commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship, innovative teaching, learning and transformative social action through a focus entrepreneurship (with a driving focus on social entrepreneurship) and innovation. Through EPIC, this center facilitates students optimizing their 21st century Earlham education through the lens of social entrepreneurship and innovation. Off-Campus Study Learning abroad is a great way to experience other cultures while gaining valuable knowledge, and Earlham is hame to one of the best study abroad programs, according to the Top 50 Colleges for Study Abroad Programs. The results of this study show that Earlham College - ranked #9 nationally – actively promotes compelling and diverse learning opportunities and experiences to our students. The Center for Global Education's Internatio dent Advisers work closely with international students from around the world to help make their learning experiences at Earlham rewarding and successful. Explore STEM Research ... The Center for Global Health is where students explore 21st century global health issues using interdisciplinary and disci- plinary knowledge and perspectives. It organizes health focused Integrated Pathways (IP), regional and national externships/internships, laboratory research experiences, volunteering, and leadership opportunities in our student EEEE Health Club. Current examples include an IP in medical human- ities, internships in regional hospitals, an international malaria research experience in Thailand, and an immersive medical/ public health and service-based May Term, which takes students to other countries, such as Peru and Nicaragua. Improve the World The Center for Social Justice assists Earlham's students in linking their passion for social justice with their purpose in life beyond Earlham. Social justice issues cross disciplinary boundaries and this center is where these concerns can come together. Examples of Earlham's commitment to this area include a collaboration with the U.S. Department of State designed to prevent violent extremism, a program to prepare students to serve in the Peace Corps, and activities that link peacemaking with the arts. The EPIC Advantage Earlham helps students find opportunities that link their academic and personal interests with possible career paths. We have established relationships with internship sponsors and research sites across the United States and around the world, and are one of only a tiny handful of colleges to offer at least one funded internship or student-faculty research experience to every student. Most Earlham students complete The EPIC Advantage during the summer, while many students – particularly in the sciences – complete multiple experiences during their four years.
