The Post-COVID Classroom: What will Change?

The Post-COVID Classroom: What will change? The pandemic has made us realize the importance of the outdoors and interaction with people, especially how important it is for the all-round growth of children to have in-person social interaction with their peers. No matter how effective online education is, children need to spend an adequate amount of time in the company of others for healthy growth. With schools/colleges reopening, what are the changes we are most likely to see from the safety point-of-view of students and staff? Let's have a look: 1. Proper Ventilation: Naturally ventilated rooms where sunlight can enter are a healthier option as they help in preventing infections and keep the room fresh for long. One might expect proper ventilated classrooms post-COVID. 2. Social Distancing: Students, teachers, and staff members are advised to strictly adhere to social distancing norms. In the classrooms, students must be made to sit at a distance of 6-ft. from each other. 3. Sanitization Stations: Proper sanitization of the school/college premises must be done regularly. Sanitizing stations must be installed at every entry & exit points of the school and classrooms, and must have adequate hand wash facilities. 4. Outdoor Learning: COVID has made us realize that in-person group learning and meetings are vital for the development of children. For safe and fun learning, outdoor spaces can also be created and utilized. 5. Training of Teachers: During this pandemic, we saw how problematic it was for teachers to transition from offline to online learning. Some tech-savvy teachers could do that smoothly while many faced uphill challenges. Hence, post-COVID, we are much likely to observe a spike in the tech training of teachers for effective online teaching. EDUKHOJ www.EDUKHOJ.COM
