CYBER CAREERS AND SECURE YOUR SPACE THE MILLENNIAL GENERATION U.S. millennials are interested in the cybersecurity profession but are not fully prepared to be successful. Industry and educators could be doing more to close the cyber talent gap. Anatomy of a millennial Ages 18-26 experienced a personal 60% online violation in the last year (identity theft or computer virus). Of that 60%, 70% changed their online behavior in response PARENT OTHER ADULT 17% From the birds & bees to cyber: Who gave you your first "talk" about staying safe online? 18% 45% FRIEND 20% TEACHER The Cyber Education Gap Most U.S. millennials believe they are personally responsible for their online safety 87% Believe commercial websites are responsible 80% Believe social network friends are responsible 74% Believe the government is responsible 66% BUT only 26% are confident that their high school taught them to use technology securely. 64% did not have computer dasses in high school that provided skills to pursue a cybersecurity career said no teacher ever mentioned 59 % cybersecurity as a a career (Down from 82% in 2013) Interest in cyber careers: A rose by any other name... COMPARED TO 12 MONTHS AGO, BUT 38% 63% of millennials are more likely are not aware of the tasks and responsibilities in "cybersecurity" jobs to consider a career where they could make the Internet safer and more secure YOUNG ADULTS ARE ASKING QUESTIONS AS THEY EXPLORE CAREER OPTIONS IN CYBERSECURITY.
