Biomass energy conversion processes

BIOMASS ENERGY CONVERSION PROCESSES COMBUSTION PROCESS In this process, biomass burns in the presence of the oxygen as a result it releases heat. However this is the basic method to get energy from biomass material. GASIFICATION PROCESS In this process, biomass is converting into the combustible gas mixture to use as an alternative to Naturel gas. PYROLYSIS PROCESS This is the process before gasification and consists of thermal decomposition. This process happens in the absence of oxygen. ANAEROBIC DIGESTION PROCESS This is the process in which bacteria break down the biomass material into a gas containing methane and solid residue. Similarly, this process happens in the absence of oxygen. FERMENTATION PROCESS In this process yeast or bacteria added into biomass material toconvert carbohydrates in the plant into alcohol or acid. These bacteria survive on sugar to convert biomass intoethanol (alcohol) and carbon dioxide.
