Official Direct Assistance (ODA*) is the measurement of aid given by countries to other countries in need of financial assistance. In light of the recent earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan, and an inordinate number of natural disasters which occurred in 2010, we wanted to know which countries are giving the most aid. Here's a breakdown of some of the worst incidents that took place and the havoc they wreaked. By convention, ODA flows comprise contributions of donor government agencies, at all levels, to developing countries ("bilateral ODA") and to multilateral institutions.
