IS YOUR HEAD IN THE CLOUD? With many advantages over standard hosting including improved scalability, inherent redundancy and the ability to efficiently use available server resources, cloud hosting is exciting to say the least. But despite most of us using cloud based services every day there seems to be some confusion on what exactly the term cloud actually means... Read on to discover just how many people are in a muddle about this cutting edge technology. In the UK, only 34% of people claimed to have a clear understanding of what cloud means. 34% 50% DONT HAVE A CLUE WHAT THE CLOUD IS More men (60%) than women (44%) claim to have at least some understanding. 18-24 year olds have the worst understanding of the cloud despite them being the biggest users of cloud services. 15% Only 15% of people think that cloud means scalable hosting across multiple servers. 30% 30% think that Dropbox, iTunes, Gmail and hosting are cloud services, even though they all are. 53% OF PEOPLE LIVING IN ENGLAND said they at least had some understanding of the cloud, while Northern Ireland was the region of the UK with the least understanding of the cloud.
