How to Disable Windows 7 Al Startup Programs in Microsoft Windows Open the 'Start' men and type 'msconfig.exe' in the Windows GI Search box. Restart your PC to apply the changes and enjoy a faster Windows boot. Search for the 'msconfig.exe file in the results display and click on it or press Enter. F Click 'OK'after disabling all unwanted startup programs, and a 'Restart' dialog box will appear. Windows XP users will have to open the 'Run' dialog box, type in 'msconfig.exe'and click OK to open the 'msconfig.exe' file.
