Travelers companies (TRV) Stock Price Drivers

Stock Price Drivers Growth in commercial insurance pricing is starting to stall. Middle market commercial insurance prices rose by 7.1% this year, slower than in the same period of the preceding year, when rates increased 7.2%. Growth in prices seems to have peaked in the first quarter of 2013, when they rose by 7.8% year-over-year (YoY). Travelers has also taken the lead in lowering auto insurance rates, and lower priced auto and commercial insurance plans are expected to eat into Travelers' underwriting premiums in 2014. Travelers wrote net premiums of $22.45 billion in 2012, and earned net premiums of $22.36 billion. As indicated by the higher premiums written than the premiums earned, the company is currently going through a growth cycle.
