Telephone Interviews - The Winning Formula

STELEPHONE INTERVIEWS THE WINNING FORMULA 1. Set the scene Have your CV, the role profile, and any other relevant documents out with you during the call. The interviewer may refer to them, or question you on specific details. 2. Ask for feedback Without being able to observe your interviewer's body language and reactions, be prepared to ask questions like "does that answer your question?" or "would you like me to go into more detail about that?" 3. Think body language Body language is a huge part of a "face-to-face" interview; so don't forget the impact it can have on a telephone interview. Maintain good posture, smile and even stand up. It can all be heard in your voice! 4. Be prepared Be ready to take the call early, and make sure you are somewhere quiet and free from distractions. Úse a landline if possible, and don't forget to prepare as you would do for any other interview, including having questions prepared for your interviewer. ..and finally Remember, an interview is an interview! Prepare as thoroughly as you would do for a face-to-face meeting, including doing your research about the role and the organisation. No - Google'ing the company as you dial is not enough!
