The New Knowledge Worker

THE NEW KNOWLEDGE WORKER The Knowledge Worker has played an imperative role in business development over the decades. In fact, knowledge workers have driven an estimated 70 percent of U.S. economic growth in the past 30 years, and 85 percent of the new jobs created in the past 10 years have required what are considered complex knowledge skills. But thirty years ago, knowledge workers conducted their work in different ways than they do now. Mostly driven by new technologies, the differences are rather drastic: Knowledge workers, as defined by knowledge productivity guru, Peter Drucker, are: 1. Decision makers 2. Innovators 3. Self-managing 4. Defined by the quality of their work, not the quantity of output 5. Continuous learners 6. An asset to a company rather than a cost 1970's KNOWLEDGE WORKER 12 L.
