PULSE Insights from the Ceridian U.S. Pulse of Talent Survey OF TALENT American workers ranging from Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y, were surveyed (August 2013) on their perceptions of job rewards and recognition, performance reviews, and career satisfaction. Here are some of the highlights: Job Rewards Survey says: the most important engagement driver is: 47% job rewards 42% 47% 42% job recognition 11% job motivation US employees want to receive non-monetary rewards and employers are starting to act 11% 64% would like to receive In the U.S., 60% of companies are currently offering non-monetary non-monetary rewards, especially rewards generation Y at 70% FRONT ROW CENTER Free personal days off Free food/meals Free Event tickets Communication & Expectations Communication between employer and employee, especially in regards to performance feedback is critical to ensuring job satisfaction and employee retention. 31%will job hunt if no salary increase, bonus or promotion following their performance review (48% for Gen Y) Only 59% had a formal meeting with their boss in 2012, in order to discuss about throughout the year their job performance. Only 47% receive regular feedback on job performance 88% prefer face-to-face meetings Only 25% of the respondents during performance reviews. Still #1! said that a career plan is (Boomers 93%) implemented in their company Motivation and Job Satisfaction Employers need to understand what makes a job worthwhile in order to ensure that their employees remain committed to their job and their overall career. Survey says: The main drivers of job motivation Interesting work 39% Autonomy 32% Good salary 31% 20 25 30 35 40 For Gen Y and Boomer respondents, interesting work is #1 For Gen X respondents, a good salary is #1 Most popular factors for making the job more rewarding: Opportunities to take on additional responsibilities Option to work flexible hours More training options and opportunities Gen Y ranked opportunity to take on more responsibility as #1; Gen X ranked flexible hours as #1 and Boomer ranked more training opportunities as #1 CERIDIAN Trusted Results.
