Email Marketing Best Practices for Real Estate Agents

EMAIL MARKETING BEST PRACTICES FOR REAL ESTATE AGENTS 1 WHO IS THE EMAIL FROM Make sure the sender for all of your email blasts is consistant and recognized by your recipients. Nielson Research found that 41.6 of mobile internet time is spent on email. For Gmail and Yahoo mail (two of the most popular email providers), the sender appears on the far left making it the first thing people see when scanning their email. For iPhone and iPad users, the sender shows up at the top in BOLD making it especially apparent to readers. 2 FOLLOW THE 4 U's After the sender, subject line is the next most impor- tant thing to get people to open your email. Get the subject line right by asking yourself the 4 U's. Is it URGENT? Urgency encourages your reader to act now, not later. Isit UNIQUE? A unique subject says something new, or something in a new way. Is it ULTRA-SPECIFIC? An ultra-specific subject line teases readers to want to find out more. Is it USEFUL? Usefulness grabs a reader's attention by offering some benefit. 3 KEEP IT SIMPLE The sender and subject get the readers to open the email, but a consise message gets them to read it. Sum up the email in one sentence. Make that your first sentence. 51 Readers spend an average of 51 seconds on each email newsletter. Make sure your readers can get the necessary information in under a minute. Break up paragraphs so they are no longer than 1-2 sentences. Use bullet points and bolding to make it easy to skim.
