Allow consumers the option to select what personal information is shared. Opt-Out Option Allow consumers the option to opt out of and control the kind of marketing messages they receive. The Federal Trade Commission recommends a Do-Not-Track mechanism to allow consumers to control how their online activities are tracked. 3. Data Security Implement reasonable security measures to protect the online data received from consumers, including limiting the length of time the data can be kept.
