Culligan Industrial Process Water

INDUSTRIAL PROCESS n WATER Industrial process water is source water that has been treated to be used for a variety of industrial and manufacturing processes. Process water is commonly used for boiler make-up water, cooling tower make-up water, coating and plating, rinsing and spraying, and washing. Many different industrial water treatment processes are employed in the creation of process water, including: ACTIVATED CARBON FILTRATION Filters containing activated carbon are used to remove free chlorine and organic compounds from source water supplies. Using carbon made from raw organic materials such as coconut husks or coal, activated carbon filtration uses the process of chemical adsorption to remove contaminants and impuríties. DEMINERALIZATION Demineralization (a.k.a. deionization) is the process of removing dissolved salts, minerals and nitrates from water through the ion exchange process. Water that has been demineralized becomes high purity water that is similar in quality to distilled water. GREENSAND FILTRATION Greensand filtration is accomplished by running source water through sandy sediment called glauconite that has been coated with manganese dioxide. Greensand is capable of removing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from source water, helping turn it into process water. REVERSE OSMOSIS Reverse osmosis uses manufactured pressure that forces source water through an extremely fine filtration membrane, removing up to 98% of dissolved ions and contaminants. RO is one of the most cost-efficient water treatment technologies, & is capable of removing particles as small as 0.0001 micron in size. WATER SOFTENING Over time, groundwater is contaminated by limestone as calcium and bicarbonate ions dissolve and are released into source water. In order to be usable as industrial process water, the source water has to undergo a process known as water softening. This process involves contaminated water flowing over resin beads charged with sodium ions, and through ion exchange, the beads trap the contaminants, with purer process water flowing out of the resin bed. While source water at a facility may look clear, proper testing can reveal that it's leading to decreased efficiency and expensive failures. Culligan Industrial Water has the in-house experts to properly test & analyze source water and specify the right equipment and filters to produce top-quality process water for your facility, at a reasonable cost.
