What to do with your Flock During a Hurricane

What to do with your Flock During a Hurricane IF YOU LIVE ON THE COAST EVACUATION ROUTE Chicken coops are no match to hurricane force winds and storm surge. Bring your birds with you inside your house or with you when you evacuate. You can easily transport them in dog crates. Otherwise, don't expect them to be alive when you return. IF YOU LIVE INLAND Stock up on bottled water. If there is a power outage, you may not have access to fresh water. Remove and/or anchor down any objects which could potentially become projectiles in high winds. Survey surrounding trees for signs of possible uprooting and trim overhanging branches surrounding the coop. Remember that your flock depends on you to protect them. Don't forget about them!
